Name of the future 6th Buddha, currently Karmapa

Post by Palzang Jangchub »

Does anyone here happen to know either the Sanskrit, Uchen, or Wylie spelling of the 6th Buddha's name (the one after Maitreya that the Karmapa will supposedly become)?

I know it's said to be in the Bhadrakalpika Sutra, but so far I've only been able to find the Anglicized, phoneticized versions of the name in Tibetan. I've variously seen Senge, Drukpa Senge, and Senge Namdrel. However with all the homophones in Tibetan it would be most helpful to see it in the other systems of writing.

Particularly I'm wondering if Drukpa Senge is Wyl. 'brug pa seng ge, Tib. འབྲུག་པ་སེང་གེ

"The Sutras, Tantras, and Philosophical Scriptures are great in number. However life is short, and intelligence is limited, so it's hard to cover them completely. You may know a lot, but if you don't put it into practice, it's like dying of thirst on the shore of a great lake. Likewise, a common corpse is found in the bed of a great scholar." ~ Karma Chagme
