Losar Message from HH Sakya Trizin

His Holiness Sakya Trizin
Head of the Sakyapa Order of Tibetan Buddhism

Dear Dharma friends,

It is with great pleasure that I offer to you my most sincere wishes
for a happy and prosperous New Year of the Water Dragon.

I hope that the closing year has brought you many good things. My
family and I have been blessed throughout the year, in particular
with the birth of my third grandchild, Jetsunma Ngawang Tsejin Lhamo
Sakya, first child of Khondung Gyana Vajra Rinpoche and H.E. Dagmo
Kushok Sonam Palkyi.

Jetsunma joins her two cousins Dungsey Akasha Vajra Rinpoche and
Jetsunma Kunga Palter Sakya in the emergence of a new generation of
the Khon family. I pray that they become worthy receptacles for the
countless Dharma treasures that are their legacy, and that they be
able to benefit countless beings.

Likewise, I pray that the precious Dharma may shine brighter and
brighter as it is passed from generation to generation everywhere. I
have been very pleased to see many parents bringing their small
children to teachings at our centres, and it fills me with hope that
they too will become spiritual beings and bring light to the world.

In Tibetan culture, the Dragon symbolizes victory over ignorance, and
so it is considered very auspicious. This year of the Water Dragon
invites us to remember at every moment that we are exceptionally
fortunate to have been blessed with the gift of Dharma, and that we
must ourselves become dragon-like in striving to banish the ignorance
that binds us to dissatisfaction and suffering. If we keep the Dharma
alive in this way, we will then be able to pass on its wisdom to
younger generations, so that they can in turn enrich their own lives
and at the same time contribute to making the world a better place.

I wish all of you great happiness and success in your spiritual
practice, and I pray that each one of you never ceases to bask in the
light of the Triple Gem.

With blessings,

Sakya Trizin

"Even if you practice only for an hour a day with faith and inspiration, good qualities will steadily increase. Regular practice makes it easy to transform your mind. From seeing only relative truth, you will eventually reach a profound certainty in the meaning of absolute truth."

"Only you can make your mind beautiful."
