Long life Tsongkhapa

Post by Lesterado » Sun Aug 11, 2019 7:28 am

Dear dharma friends,

Do you know where I can find a high resolution image of Long life tsongkhapa ? I am also interested to know more about the practice of Long life tsongkhapa and how he is associated with Amitayus and Sukhavati.

Thank you very much!

I have read that this practise is associated with/was revealed by Dagom Rinpoche. Dagom Rinpoche was a practioner of a certain controversial gyalpo who shall not be mentioned. As such, information on this practice on the internet seems chiefly available from sites associated with followers of this gyalpo.

Lester, this is a case where you should ask your lama, if you have one. For what it's worth, Gaden Lhagyema by itself, without special embellishments, would probably be considered a life-extending practice by some.

I always hear about Tsongkhapa in reference to Tushita, rather than Sukhavati, so I'm sorry I can't help further.

A copy of the Lama Tsongkhapa Guru Yoga is here, compiled by Lama Zopa:

Hope this helps.

I would not be so concerned about the connection to Dagom Rinpoche, as the revelation from a previous incarnation shouldn't be a problem. Lama Zopa seems to give the initiation every so often, at Tse Chen Ling in 2015 and at the Great Stupa in 2018.

I have also requested this initiation from my own lama, so once I receive it I may be able to give you more information. Just so you know, the main Lama Tsongkhapa statue in the Kopan monastery gompa is the long life Lama Tsongkhapa, so if you want you can also look for a high resolution image of that statue.

In the first picture, who is the deity above lama’s left shoulder?
