Any ex Catholics here?

If so, what made you choose Nichiren Buddhism?
In his writing, Hokkemongu (Words and Phrases of the Lotus Sutra), The Great Master Nichiren said, “If the practitioners of the Lotus Sutra wholeheartedly devote their life to the Lotus Sutra and practice according to its golden words, it is certainly needless to say that not only in the next life, but also in this lifetime they will overcome severe difficulty, prolong their life, receive the great, good fortune of unsurpassed enlightenment, and accomplish the great vow of the widespread, propagation of True Buddhism.”

Interesting question. Is your question directed to people like me who WERE at one point in their lives 'Catholic' (through indoctrination) or is it more specifically aimed at people who changed from Catholicism directly to Buddhism?

I was raised catholic, but decided that God didn't exist when I was eleven. Finally stopped attending mass when I was around 16 (only went anyway because it was a family thing.) When I encountered Buddhism I was already a confirmed atheist. And still am. There was never any struggle of conscience on my part. It was slightly a culture shock but that was lessened greatly by the fact that I was already interested in stuff like Macrobiotics, and eastern philosophy in general.
