Interesting, would like to visit this on next visit to KTM. I was a video a year or so back of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche giving 1000 Buddha empowerment in Nepal..maybe it was here. Out of curiosity does anyone know anything about 1000 Buddha empowerment? Where can I find info? Have googled but not much comes up.

A short video of Patan. This includes brief clips of both the Golden Temple and the Mahabuddha Temple. The video detail is impressive. The supertitles appear to be in Catalan but if so the Catalan used is so close to Spanish as to be mostly negligible.

There doesn't appear to be much on the 1000 Buddhas Empowerment. Here is a brief explanation from Drikung Dharma Surya:
Thousand Buddhas Empowerment (toward the bottom of the page)
Shakyamuni Buddha prophesied that in this eon of time, a thousand Buddhas would arise to relieve sentient beings from suffering and guide them to enlightenment. This empowerment creates a karmic connection such that those who receive it will be present during the lives and teachings of the future Buddhas of this eon. The transmission takes place through the mandala of Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, who embodies the active compassion of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas throughout time. This connection matures through the intention to do no harm to other beings and the commitment to hold all life as sacred.
Thousand Buddhas Empowerment, Rangjung Yeshe Thailand
This unique empowerment, rarely given was arranged by Jamgon Kongtrul, one of the most famous non-sectarian Buddhist master in the 19th century, and a contemporary of Chokgyur Lingpa. In order to tame the beings of this Jambudvipa continent who are extremely difficult to tame, Thousand-Arm Avalokiteshvara manifested one thousand chakravatins (universal monarchs) from its arms, and one thousand Buddhas in this Fortunate Aeon from its thousand eyes. Although the thousand Buddhas of this aeon is of a single essence of Avalokiteshvara’s enlightened wisdom, each of them will manifest distinctly and separately, appearing at different times to tame sentient beings. At the beginning, each Buddha will give rise to the altruistic mind of enlightenment, in the middle, they will perform the compassionate acts of bodhisattavas, and in the end, they will manifest enlightenment activities beyond our ordinary concepts.

Here's another video of the Temple of 1000 Buddhas. This is from YT and is from two years ago. This video adds some details to the temple layout (for example, there is another separate shrine in the courtyard). However the person recording is stressed from travel issues.

and here is a video from about 5 months ago that adds yet more detail to the separate shrine shown in the previous video. This particular video is all in Nepali.

Lama Rinchen (Sakya) visits the Temple of 1000 Buddhas. All in Spanish.
