The cost of a thing is the amount of what I call life which is required to be exchanged for it, immediately or in the long run.

We live in illusion and the appearance of things. There is a reality. We are that reality. When you understand this, you see that you are nothing, and being nothing, you are everything. That is all. - Kalu Rinpoche

Those who, even with distracted minds,
Entered a stupa compound
And chanted but once, “Namo Buddhaya!”
Have certainly attained the path of the buddhas.

There are beings with little dust in their eyes who are falling away because they do not hear the Dhamma. There will be those who will understand the Dhamma.

This thread is a pretty good source of music - I've been turned onto quite a lot of good stuff.

The Coltrane was because I just watched a documentary on him. There are some musicians that definitely seem like incarnate devas. In the least, it seems Coltrane touched heaven.

Those opening notes of Blue Train ... I feel it in my gut: it drops away. And I shiver.

Miles, man.

Jazz, especially starting with BeBop, amazes me because you have these classically trained musicians who bring world class ability to an instrument and then advanced philosophy to the complete deconstruction of musical theory. In the documentary, Coltrane was compared to Picasso with regard to the phases he went through, starting different movements and then going on to something else... just chasing the sound he heard in his mind. Miles Davis did that, too. Those two guys.

It blows my mind that Coltrane wrote A Love Supreme in the attic of his suburban house with his wife and kids living the suburban dream downstairs. Such genius in such an ordinary, boring setting.

On the ethno jazz - I am really really into African music right now...

hi, Q
i lovChicken In The Corn – Lyrics

Brushy One String: CHICKEN IN THE CORN LYRICS
The story behind Brushy One String’s Chicken in The Corn video…

Sometime ago in Jamaica, RiseUp director Luciano Blotta arrived at a rural recording studio to encounter a rare find: a man holding a one-string guitar! The man identified himself as Brushy One String and quickly offered to sing a song for Luciano, who without much thought or preview, hit the record button…What followed was the stellar delivery of Chicken in The Corn, in one uninterrupted take that included sing-alongs from all the other studio visitors, who were also sitting around outside.

That was the day when Luciano discovered Brushy in the Jamaican underground music scene. Call it Destiny, but the two man connected immediately and began a brotherhood that has now produced the resurrection of Brushy and the emergence of his music to the world stage, a journey that in many ways, is just beginning all over again.

So for all the fans that have requested it, below are the lyrics to the now famous viral hit by Brushy One String, as recorded for his debut albumDESTINY. You can download both the video version and the album recording on Amazon or iTunes as follows:

CHICKEN IN THE CORN by Brushy One String

Hey, Poncho, where are you going?

I’m going to San Francisco man

To see my friend El Poncho

He says, hey One String

There’s something you got to know, you know?

I said, yeah?

When we are back on our saddles and our horses

We sing this old country song like this

Chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow, mamma

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

On my way to San Francisco

Where I buck my friend and his name was Poncho

He said one string

There’s something you got to know

When we are back on our saddles and our horses

Where we go

We sing this

Chicken in the corn

And the corn can’t grow, mamma

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

Don’t need to brag

No need to boast

I can rock you from a pillow

To post to post

When the music’s nice

We play them twice

While the girls are screaming out like mice

My name is Brushy

I’m the king of swing

To rap your music

And to let you sing

It doesn’t really matter what the people wanna say

I rap my music night and day

Rock them night and day

My mama hear me sing!

Chicken in the corn

And the corn can’t grow, mamma

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow, mamma

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

Chicken in the corn

And the corn can’t grow, mamma

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow, mamma

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

Don’t need to brag

No need to boast

I can rock you from a pillow

To post to post

When the music’s nice

We play them twice

While the girls are screaming out like mice

My name is Brushy

I’m the king of swing

To rap your music

And to let you sing

It doesn’t really matter what the people wanna say

I rap my music night and day

Rock them night and day.

And Luci hear me say!

Chicken in the corn

And the corn can’t grow, mamma

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow, mamma

When chicken in the corn

Say the corn can’t grow

When chicken in the…

When chicken in the…

Corn can’t grow

When chicken in the…
