Buddhist art of Alchi, Ladakh

Post by Tiago Simões » Sat Mar 10, 2018 8:53 pm

Does anyone know about the sacred art style found in Alchi, Ladakh? Name, influences (I can tell it's very Indian in style), online sources, etc?

I've been meaning to get back to painting (I was quite the little painter back in my kid years), and I really feel attracted to this style.
Then, the Licchavi Vimalakīrti spoke to the elder Śāriputra and the great disciples: “Reverends, eat of the food of the Tathāgata! It is ambrosia perfumed by the great compassion. But do not fix your minds in narrow-minded attitudes, lest you be unable to receive its gift.”

Laura Santi is a contemporary thangka painter who sometimes adopts this style.

Yes that's it, I knew it had a bit of kashmir style in it.
