And to reprise the metal theme of this thread. Everything Toby Driver writes is mired in Crowley. His first band, Maudlin of the Well is my personal favorite metal band. Legend says all band members would astral project in order to find music that already existed and upon awakening would replicate it. Their albums capture aspects of the six realms in a very profound way. From God realm to hell realm.

Jikan wrote:So much metal/prog stuff is hopelessly humorless. Robert Fripp, even with the good work he's done with Guitar Craft, has to take it sitting down it's so damned serious. It's a bit like an animal realm in that sense. No one's laughing and irony is impossible.

I appreciate this approach for that reason: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyhau0B28P0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
sometimes the ones you hold so close can make you cry
but it's a pain in the ass to let 'em go...
that's samsara for you
Because he's Robert frak Fripp....

I received a half assed pointing out from Fripp once. I asked him when he does soundscapes what sort of spiritual blah blah blah is happening when he's creating them.

He told me, "The music is the answer."

I'm a fan of Maudlin of the Well...cool stuff.

Also find some interesting ideas in Meshuggah's lyrics, though the cookie monster needs to gargle more.

རྟོག་གེའི་ཡུལ་མིན་བླ་མའི་བྱིན་རླབས་དང་།

"Absolute Truth is not an object of analytical discourse or great discriminating wisdom,
It is realized through the blessing grace of the Guru and fortunate Karmic potential.
Like this, mistaken ideas of discriminating wisdom are clarified."

The newest Gorguts album 'Colored Sands' is full of songs inspired by Tibetan Buddhism and the history of Tibet. And is pretty cracking musically too.

Onward to reach the wheel of time
A path of solitude
Embraced humbly
Hands, face and knees against the ground

Prostrations for existence to come
Winds of perpetuity
Through sails of vacuity
Shores of enlightenment
Are wished and found

Sand Mandala
of the enlightened mind
Sand Mandala
Pure wisdom, one, shall find

Kalachakra
Disclosing mystic hands
Kalachakra
Splendors of colored sands

Soon of this work art shall be
In the hands of ephemerality

Dismantled, will be
The wheel of time
Quiet intensity
The sands are poured at sea
Waves of enlightenment
Are blessed and found
