In the oral tradition thread Jikai commented:
First I think it is important to note that the "Four Faiths and Five Grades" concept 四信五品 was given a significicantly different role in early Tiantai and Tendai, and then in Nichiren's thought.
Jikai can you elaborate the Tientai Tendai view on the doctrines?
Those who, even with distracted minds,
Entered a stupa compound
And chanted but once, “Namo Buddhaya!”
Have certainly attained the path of the buddhas.
