Question on wake up sermone ?

Post by Arabic Buddhist »

Hello Dharma friends

I have question on wake up sermone statement :

The essence of the Way is detachment. And the goal of those who practice is freedom from appearances. The sutras say, Detachment is enlightenment because it negates appearances .

What is mean appearances ?

Appearance () means all the things that we see, hear, smell, taste, touch and think. So the Heart Sutra says, "no form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharmas".
1 Myriad dharmas are only mind.
Mind is unobtainable.
What is there to seek?

2 If the Buddha-Nature is seen,
there will be no seeing of a nature in any thing.

3 Neither cultivation nor seated meditation —
this is the pure Chan of Tathagata.

4 With sudden enlightenment to Tathagata Chan,
the six paramitas and myriad means
are complete within that essence.

Lakṣana. It can mean marks, defining characteristics, signs. All appearances are defined by: rise, stay, change, cease, i. e. birth, life, old age, death.

Detach from stuff that does that, and you'll be free!
