Upcoming book: "Hidden Zen"

Post by Meido » Thu Apr 25, 2019 2:17 am

Happy to announce that I've signed a contract with Shambhala Publications for my second book. The working title is "Hidden Zen."

I had originally thought to do a book examining selected psycho-physical methods of "direct pointing," i.e. practices that can aid one to experience clarity, enter samadhi, and arrive at awakening. I planned that a third, later book would deal with inherited methods of training the breath and internal energetic cultivation.

This book, however, combines both of those subjects into one volume. On many points they are related, so it makes sense. The title refers to the fact that these things have been mostly transmitted orally.

It will be a bit over a year in the production pipeline. But am happy to see this moving forward. Will update here as things move along.

~ Meido
It is relatively easy to accomplish the important matter of insight into one’s true nature, but uncommonly difficult to function freely and clearly [according to this understanding], in motion and in rest, in good and in adverse circumstances. Please make strenuous and vigorous efforts towards this end, otherwise all the teachings of Buddhas and patriarchs become mere empty words. - Torei

Great, looking forward to reading your second book!
Although many individuals in this age appear to be merely indulging their worldly desires, one does not have the capacity to judge them, so it is best to train in pure vision.

My go to author for things Zen. I’ll track it down.
