Karma and Concussions

Post by Yavana »

What is the karmic result of beating the ever loving crap out of people depending on context? For example, I know that Kung-Fu was developed as a non-violent means of fending off government military attacks on monastic communities in ancient China. Thus, beating someone unconscious in this context was a lesser evil which the person being beaten had earned to some extent by being part of a force sent to attack Buddhists and wipe out the Dharma. Then there are those who just go around, like in street gangs, beating people for no real reason but for "kicks" who create awful karmas. How does context affect this kind of karma when it is created?

Hello dear cicada,

What a hard life....all you need to know about that, ia try to help others. If you can not help a person, try to be neutral. Never bully, scare or seek to create troubles for a person (or other sentient being).

About context, of course life is complex. But based on the statement above, from His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet, beating the ever loving anything out of anyone a bad situation and i hope that your love will never be beaten out of you.
i dedicate this post to your happiness, the causes of your happiness, the absence of your suffering the causes of the absence of your suffering that we may not have too much attachment nor aversion. SAMAYAMANUPALAYA

You are thinking of Wing Chung. And we all now how well that worked since government forces knew Kung-Fu AND were armed to the teeth too. The Shaolin monastery was razed five times by government forces (the monks gave up after the fifth time, deciding to abandon it) and is now just a tourist attraction.

If beating the crap out of someone prevents worse harm by them etc. then it is a very good thing.
It is good for the person doing the beating, as they prevented greater harm, and it is good for the person receiving the beating as it prevented them from the consequences of committing bad karma.

For this to happen they need to have completely pure compassionate motivation while beating the crap out of their enemies though.
