Here the Bön Protector Temple at Menri Monastery / Dolanji / India / HP.

Above the entrance is written the Mantra of Sidpe Gyalpo the main Protector of Bön, but in the Temple are also venerated all other Bön Protectors.

His Holiness the 34th Menri Trizin Rinpoche welcomed H.E. the Menri Ponlop Rinpoche, who is back from a journey in Eastern Tibet, where H.E. the Menri Ponlop Rinpoche visited Tsedrug Monastery, the biggest Bön Monastery in Tibet.

Special Announcement. We are pleased to announce a special 4 day free webcast of the Parinirvana Anniversary of H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin and the Grand Enthronement Ceremonies of H.H. the 34th Menri Trizin, at Menri Monastery, Dolanji, on September 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th.

Free registration for the webcast of these special events is now open at www.gompaservices.com. At the time you register there will also be the opportunity to make a voluntary offering to Menri Monastery in support of this event. Registration will be available until September 25th. (See below for registration details.)


Event schedule:

The Parinirvana Anniversary of the late H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin

September 3rd, Day One: The monks will perform the ritual of the meditational deity Rigzin Düpa. The new main white marble stupa of His Holiness, and related other stupas and statues, will be consecrated.

In the evening, butter-lamps will be lit in the main courtyard, H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin's Parinirvana Invocation prayer and lamp offering prayers will be chanted and the five objects will be offered, followed by circumambulation of the main temple and the stupa hall.

September 4th, Day Two: Following a procession from the main temple to the main courtyard, a mandala offering and other prayers will be offered in front of the Thangka and statue of the late H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin.

Representing the offerings of body, statues of:

Buddha Tönpa Shenrab, Je Nyamay Chenpo, Kyabgon Dawa Gyaltsen and Drogon Sherab Yungdrung will be offered, representing the offering of speech, the collection of the Bönpo Canon will be offered, and representing the offering of mind, 4 different sizes of Yungdrung Köleg stupas, 8 auspicious symbols and seven precious jewels will be offered.

Following this, the Abbot and the Lopon will inaugurate the statue of H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin (the Thongdrol Kündu) and H.H. the 34th Menri Trizin will bestow upon H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin the title of ‘The Great father who preserved the ancient treasures of Zhang Zhung and Tibet’ and a banner will be exhibited in honour of H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin. In the evening, H.H. the 33rd Menri Trizin will be honored by offering the five objects and then the 5 musical offerings (Shenrab Chönga) will be performed in the main temple, the protector temple and in the private residence, respectively.


The Grand Enthronement Ceremony of H.H. the 34th Menri Trizin


September 6th, Day One: The day will begin with a incense-smoke offering and the erection of prayer flags on Lhagyal hill, after which H.H. the 34th Menri Trizin will rise to the Lion Throne and mandala offerings for his long life will begin. H.E. Menri Lopon Rinpoche will read the explanation of the mandala offering and then the offerings of body, speech and mind, the five offerings, monk’s robes, 7 precious jewels, and 8 auspicious symbols will be carried out consecutively. In the afternoon, the empowerment of the wisdom deity Mawei Senge will begin, H.H. the 34th Menri Trizin will give a public address, and the traditional ceremony will be concluded with the blessings of the empowerment.

September 7th, Day Two: Welcoming of special guests and speeches by H. E. Menri Lopon Rinpoche, Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel (Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile), Dr Lobsang Sangay, (Sikyong of Central Tibetan Administration), and H.H. the 34th Menri Trizin, together with auspicious songs and cultural performances and the closing ceremony.

Each day of the events will be recorded live and be available to view by the end of the day (India time). All webcast sessions will then remain available for you to view at any time of your choosing until September 25th.

Event Schedule of the Grand Enthronement Ceremony of
His Holiness the 34th Menri Trizin Rinpoche (September 6-7, 2018)


September 6th, Day One

1. The day will begin with incense-smoke offering and the erection of prayer flags on Lhagyal hill by all the monks and the devotees.

2. The chief guests, the monks and all the people will assemble in the main temple after which His Holiness the 34th Menri Trizin will sit on the Golden Throne and mandala offerings for his long life will begin.

3. His Eminence Menri Ponlob Rinpoche will read the explanation of the mandala offering and then the offerings of body, speech and mind, the five offerings, monk’s robes, seven precious jewels and eight auspicious symbols will be carried out consecutively. The devotees will be given blessings and blessed pictures of His Holiness the 34th Menri Trizin will be distributed among the devotees.

4. In the afternoon, H.H. the 34th Menri Trizin will give the empowerment of the wisdom deity Mawei Senge followed by a public address, and the traditional ceremony will be concluded with the blessings of the empowerment.


September 7th, Day Two

Welcoming of special guests and speeches by:
- H. E. Menri Ponlob Rinpoche
- Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel (Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile)

Menri Monastery a concept in the world of Bönpos.
It is the seat of the Menri Abbot and accepted as the main Monastery in the world of Bönpos anno data 2019.
Maybe there might be persons who doubt that, that is possible, they belong to the minority in the world of Bönpos.
