Cheri Brady goes to Bhutan.

Come to Bhutan with us! All are welcome! Visit Kumbum Lhakhang Bon Monastery with us for a day-long annual celebration making offerings to all the Bon deities. Kumbum Lhakhang is one of the oldest Bon monastery of 7th Century, located at Gangtey, Wangduephodrang. Bon predates Buddhism. The Lhakhang is the seat of Lam Zhabdrung Tsenden Dewa. Lam was from Yoendo in Tibet. Sipi Gyalmo is the protective deity of the Kumbum and Shar Sewgang Bon Monasteries.

Both Kumbum and Shar Sewgang lhakhangs perform annual Yoendo Bon ritual. Kumbum is the summer holistic residence and Shar Sewgang is the winter holistic residence. We will visit both monasteries. This is not a trekking trip.

We stay in hotels and drive from place to place. No tents this time!!

PURE DZOGCHEN by Namkha Publications is now available for purchase!

About Pure Dzogchen:

The Dzogchen teaching directly introduces Dharmakaya or primordial Buddhahood. This is attained by means of one practice: single-pointed meditation on the Natural Mind.

The meditator passes beyond mind and encounters the inconceivable vastness of the natural mind and ultimate truth. All delusions, ignorance and emotions are liberated.

Freeing the practitioner from daily problems is of benefit; however, Dzogchen, the path of liberation, is the ultimate benefit. This compilation of Geshe Namgyal’s teachings provides the root, summary and essential points of the Pure Dzogchen from the Zhang Zhung Tradition.

Chaphur Rinpoche will be in personal retreat for the month of December. There he will practice his Yidam Takla Mebar, as he has done every December for many years. This year again, Rinpoche would like to extend this retreat to all members of the Sangha.

Every Saturday Rinpoche will give teachings via zoom on the generation and completion stages of Takla Mebar practice, and their relation to tantric practice in the larger Bön Buddhist context. Students will be encouraged to practice their own retreat on the deity, accumulating mantras, and engaging in other Takla Mebar practices. At the conclusion of Rinpoche’s personal retreat, he will lead a five day teaching and practice retreat at Gyalshen Institute. There he will also give the tantric empowerment for Takla Mebar.

Please note: you may still participate in the online sessions and practice from home, if you are unable to attend the concluding 5-day retreat

Here is a short description of Takla Mebar:

In order to overcome negative forces and the personal, negative emotions and obstacles they create, Tonpa Shenrab Miwo manifested as Takla Mebar (Flaming Tiger Deity) and subjugated those evil forces through his compassionate wisdom mind, transforming them into compassionate and peaceful beings.

Takla Mebar Healing heals the outer poisons and negativities, by transforming them into wisdom and positive aspects, as well as the inner negativities. These are transformed into the clarity of the five wisdoms (wisdom of emptiness, mirror-like wisdom, wisdom of equality, discriminating wisdom, all-accomplishing wisdom).

The Chaphur family have been lineage holders of this yidam since the very beginning of their recorded family history.

In order to register, please go to both links below in order to register. Unless you go to both links, you will not be registered.

Tashi delek,

Tummo Practice Retreat:
tummo - 00.jpg
tummo - 00.jpg (168.53 KiB) Viewed 26069 times

Retreat with Choekhortshang Rinpoche
Orte (VT) Italy, November 1 to 4, 2018

Lungtok Ling Association (www.lungtokling.org) organizes a residential retreat on the Practice of
Tummo with Choekhortshang Rinpoche, to complete the cycle of teachings from the Bon Mother
Tantra that Rinpoche has transmitted in Italy over the last few years.

The meaning of Tummo is “inner fire” or “wisdom fire”.

This practice involves generating and directing heat or warmth within the body by applying
key points on Tsa (channels), Lung (wind or breathing) and Tigles (light drops of consciousness).

The warmth burns physical impurities and destroys afflictions and conceptual thoughts transforming them into joyful bliss that enhances swift arising of co-emergent wisdom
to be in the highest level of consciousness.

Tummo in Bön Buddhism is a teaching from the Mother Tantra and it is also linked to the completion phases of Dzogchen practice.

Dzogchen meditation is considered the highest and most profound practice in Bön
tradition.
Rinpoche teaches Tummo from the commentary text called Kusum Rangshar (Spontaneous Arising of the Three Kayas), written by Shardza Rinpoche, a Bön master who achieved the body of light or rainbow body.

During this 4 days retreat Rinpoche will guide the 3 actual techniques of the Tummo practice followed by preliminary visualizations.

The 3 techniques are:

- Soft Breathing/Gentle Prana,
- Medium Breathing/intermediate Prana
- Fierce Breathing/Wrathful Prana.

These practices involve body posture, breathing techniques and visualisations.

As for the breathing techniques, there are 4 main points that will be guided:

- inhaling
- filling
- pressing
- exhaling.

Through the practice of Tummo one can achieve three main benefits;

- in the outer way it can heal and cure physical illnesses
- in the secret way it averts obstacles by spirits
- in the inner way it transforms all the negative emotions into wisdoms.

The whole Teaching will be transmitted (not one of two parts) On Rinpoche’s request, it will be possible to attend only to the whole retreat, a shorter participation will not be allowed.

The retreat is not recommended to absolute beginners.
