Tashi delek,

John Vincent Bellezza is in Bön very popular , the Indiana Jones from Zhang Zhung.
Our His Holiness, the 33rd Menri Trizin Rinpoche, likes John very much.
John makes clear to the world, the pre-Buddhist time or better said the Bön culture from Zhang Zhung.

Will post in the future many actual discoveries from John, done in Upper Tibet.

Scholar, explorer, writer and pilgrim John Vincent Bellezza is widely recognized as one of the foremost specialists in the archaeology and cultural history of Upper Tibet.

He has lived in the high Himalaya for over a quarter of a century.

A senior research fellow at the Tibet Center, University of Virginia, Bellezza has written extensively on the nomads, history and culture of Upper Tibet. A pioneer in his field, he is credited with the discovery of hundreds of pre-Buddhist archaeological sites, describing the monuments and the people that built them in great detail.

The Iron Age civilization he has charted, is associated with Zhang Zhung, Tibet’s fabled ancient kingdom and source of much of her culture.

Tashi delek,

John is doing good work in the area of ancient Bön. Here we have some pictographs from 1000 CE.
The time table goes much more further back, but that needs of course further "evidence".
After some time we will have all those evidences on the table.

Meet the Ancient Bonpo!

These extremely rare portraits of ancient Bönpos are the predecessors of today's Yungdrung Bön monks and practitioners.

Nevertheless, there are also many differences in the appearance of these read ocher figures. These large pictographs appear to date to the Early Historic period, documenting the last priests of the pre-Buddhist tradition which was superseded by Lamaist forms of Tibetan religion, ca. 1000 CE. © John Vincent Bellezza.
