Post by kalden yungdrung » Wed May 08, 2019 10:15 am

Tashi delek,

Yetri Thasel belongs to one of the 4 main Dzogchen Cycle of Teachings.
Followed this Bön Dzogchen Cycle of Teachings which was given by the H.E. the Bön Yongdzin Rinpoche Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche.

Yetri Thasel is one of our major Dzogchen texts. Among the Bönpo texts we have 4 that mainly contain complete teachings of Dzogchen:

- Zhang Zhung Nyan Gyud
- Gab pa Gu kor
- Ye tri Tha sel (Ye khrid mtha' sel)
- Dzog chen Trag pa Kor sum

1. The complementary cycle of the ZZNG is / Chaktri / Phyag-khrid
2. The complementary cycle of the Gabpa Gukor is / Atri - A-khrid
3. The complementary cycle of the Yetri Thasel is / Namkha Trüldzö
4. The complementary cycle of the Drakpa Korsum is / Yangtse Longchen.

In addition:

- A khrid/gab pa gu kor: corresponding to sems sde (the mind class)
- Drag pa skor gsum - corresponding to klong sde (the vast class)
- Zhang zhung snyan gyu: corresponding to man ngag sde (the upadesha class)
- The Ye-khri Thasel belongs to the 4ht section of the Man-ngag-sde (the Innermost Secret Cycle).

There are many other Dzogchen teachings in our tradition, but these 4 are the main ones, because they contain all 9 ways completely.

Each of them explains in detail the view, how to practice, how to achieve the highest fruit, and the reason why Dzogchen is so special and the highest teaching. These are the four major teachings. The other ones say only good things about Dzogchen, too, none of them says Dzoghen is not so good or not sufficient. But those four are the ones that explain all nine ways and compare them with Dzogchen and explain how it is special.

This commentary is composed by Drenpa Namkha. There are 3 persons with the same name in very different time periods.

The one who composed our text is the so-called historical Drenpa Namkha, one of the 25 disciples of Guru Rinpoche.
When Guru Rinpoche came to Tibet, Drenpa Namkha was already a Siddha there, a reincarnation of the other Drenpa Namkha, who had lived long before.

He bore the same name, but was to be seen as a different person. The explanations in this text are teachings he received from many ancient traditions that he had not forgotten, although he had lived in many places and had met many Siddhas in his life. He kept and preserved all the teachings, and that is what we are having here now.

For receiving these teachings, and especially to get connected to them, it is very important to do the Guru Yoga to Drenpa Namkha

The 11 chapters of this Teaching :

1. The first point is about the reason why you attend the teaching and why you listen to what I am teaching. As first of all you must know what you are doing, what you are listening to, what I am talking about, the first point is on: How the Nature exists. This will be the teaching of the first point. 2. How Samsara developed from this Nature.
3. All Samsara and all sentient beings are deluded, and how to find purification or liberation from there, and to realize the Buddha Nature.
4. Suffering, miseries and delusion are deeply integrated with all sentient beings. How the Buddha Nature abides with this.
5. How wisdom and awareness appear from suffering, miseries, ignorance, the fivefold poisoned consciousness, and the emotions that everything is encompassed by.
6. How (through which channels, organs, senses) wisdom appears to the practitioner.
7. In which way (through which channels, senses, organs) all the visions appear as wisdom awareness, and where they come forth, how they can appear and become visible in front of you.
8. When the visions come in front of you, how the practitioner should realize them, how to practice, how to integrate these visions into his practice. All this teaching is about the Thogal-practice.
9. How you recognize how far you have come in your practice of these Thogal visions, and whether there are any limits, or signs coming to the person, when wisdom awareness appears, and how to know them.
10. The way in which to think, what to practice, and how to remember all this. How to practice, and how you realize what you are practicing., if you have understood it all, and you know what Dzogchen is, but there is not much time left for you to practice properly, because your life goes towards its end. This is the teaching of Bardo.
11. The great liberation, which is the final goal, the achievement, if all the practices have been done regularly and properly.

They include all Trekchod and Thogal, the complete Dzogchen set.

By Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche:

But according our Yetri Thase/, it says there that generally you can read Dzogchen and speak about it loudly in very, very crowded places, even in the middle of town. You can talk about it because if people or other beings hear those sounds they will be connected [to the Teachings] by a karmic cause. That is one point. But if among those who hear the teachings there is someone who seriously wants to practise and has devotion to the teaching of Dzogchen, then they have to choose a qualified Master - both the Master and the pupil must be qualified.
