Meditation Saturday night

Post by Lucas Oliveira »

Meditation Saturday night.

Saturday night, many people usually go to parties, dating and have fun.

Had a few years trying to keep the daily practice of meditation.

And the other night on Saturday, when I was meditating, I started thinking about what many people usually do on Saturday night and I was in my room meditating. Sadness invaded my mind and was bothering my meditation.

Then I began to wonder why I was meditating and was not doing what most people do.

I remembered the teaching of the Dhamma, about the suffering, the three characteristics, anicca, dukkha anatta, remembered about Metta, detachment, enlightenment, freedom. And while remembering the teachings of Dhamma I feel a liquid coming out of my body in the region which is the heart, a liquid with a very delicious energy, the liquid fall on my legs (I was meditating sitting in a chair) and I was filling the space around me. while this net skirt inside my body also came in my body, this liquid was bathing me and when filled the space around me I feel this very tasty energy holding me.

At that moment I knew I was on the right track, that meditation is the best thing I could do that night and many other nights. This tasty energy I was feeling was a small sample of was to come if I continue on the path of meditation.

Anyone had any similar experience? You tell me if I'm on the right track?

Do you have a teacher Lucas? Is it possible for you to contact them and report this experience?

I have no specific teacher. what I read in the texts of several masters, it is that we should not cling much these experiences and keep practicing.

Sometimes, seemingly, I had some similar experiences - not that intense like you discribe it.
I understood those experiences as answers to the processes of thought which were going on in my mind. As if someone (knowlegable) said to me: "Well done. Right direction."
But that's all. Experiences are coming and going. Nothing to cling to or to be proud of.

That's pretty much it. There are countless 'nyams' /meditative moods and experiences that can occur on the path.

Some of them can be helpful stepping stones in identifying the minds nature but many are just fleeting experiences relative to the temporal conditions of mind and the subtle energy winds in that particular moment.

Knowing in advance about the diverse ways in which experiences can arise can save a lot of distraction and deviation from your core practice. And alternatively as Ayu said, sometimes experiences can be indications of a well-developing practice.
