Help translating practices
Hello, I was hoping someone could help me translate these text titles, I've worked out that the first one is the White Umbrella Deity Practice.

Re: Help translating practices
I don't have time to go through all that right now, but if you put your list into this:
http://www.thlib.org/reference/translit ... verter.php
using the "Unicode to Wylie" option you will get the following in Wylie:
1. gdugs dkar
2. rgyal ba bye bdun ma
3. mkhyen srid ma
4. dge legs dpal 'bar ma
5. thub bstan dri med ma
6. dpal ldan rtsa ba'i ma
7. paN grub bcu bdun gsol 'debs
8. mkha' mnyam ma
9. dpal ldan yon tan ma
10. gtor 'bul khag
11. bstan 'bar ma
12. sgrol ma 'khor bcas
13. sgrol dkar
14. shes rab snying po
(I reformatted it a bit.)
You may be able to get some help with this:
http://www.thlib.org/reference/dictiona ... nslate.php
or by using google on the titles with quotation marks around them, like this:
https://www.google.com/search?q=%22shes ... ying+po%22
Looking at it quickly, I can tell you that 13 is White Tara.

Thank you Dzogchungpa, I also thought 13 white Tara.
I had a go with thlib but I got a few options... I'll keep at it, but so many thanks.

Re: Help translating practices
I am guessing this is a table of contents from a "collection of prayers and recitations from a monastery somewhere? They're often called "Chos cho" (chos.spyod) and pretty much every monastery produces a version for their monks.....
Anyway, here's what I've got, working backwards:
14.Prajnaparamita Hridaya (Heart Sutra. Likely actually a "reversing ritual" associated with this sutra.)
13.White Tara.
12. Tara and Retinue (possibly 21 taras?)
11. Blazing doctrine?
10. Torma offering section
9. "Glorious Qualities"
8. "Equal to Space" or "Extensive as Space"
7. 17 Panditas and Siddhas supplication
6. Glorious Root (guru, likely)
5. Stainless Teacher
4. Blazing Glorious virtue?
3. Worldy Knowledge?
2.Seven victorious?
1. White Umbrella
Given that these are quite abbreviated terms, I'd bet you'd find more complete titles on each text, but in general this would be a collections of praises, prayers, and practices related to protection, largely.

Re: Help translating practices
Many thanks Cone, I'll have a look for the extensive titles that's a great starting point
You're right as well, it's the contents of the prayer book for Sera Jey
