Concise Tibetan grammar

Post by Aryjna »

Does anyone know of a good concise grammar for Tibetan, which briefly covers structure, important particles etc.?

It seems Tibetan grammar is very simple when it comes to sadhana texts at least, so with a good idea of the grammar it should be easy to translate sadhanas by using a dictionary. Even the vocabulary seems to be 50% the same in most cases. However, although I have found many books, they are either large volumes, focused on colloquial Tibetan, or employ a very informal approach in a teach yourself style which is inferior and unhelpful when it comes to getting a comprehensive picture of the grammar.

Any primers that use religious texts would be useful as well.

An Introduction to Classical Tibetan by Stephen Hodge would seem to fit the bill.
