Dzogchen course with Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche - Sweden -April 2017

Post by SETI »

Danakosha Sweden has the great joy to once again welcome Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche (http://tdr.bio) to Stockholm.

Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche has very kindly agreed to give a teaching on Jigme Lingpa's commentary on Vimalamitra's pith instructions "Seven Point Mind Training".
Now avaliable in english translation under the name "Steps to the Great Perfection" which is mind-training instructions in the Dzogchen tradition.

Jigme Lingpa says that through this teaching you can practice all nine yanas on the same cushion. It displays the key points of all the yanas, as well as how to follow the teacher. Therefore this teaching is very suitable for everyone from beginners to those with high realization. This teaching focuses on methods of meditation.

Jigme Lingpa's short biography

Jigme Lingpa is one of the most important figures in the Nyingma lineage. He was born in 1729 or 1730 in the Yarlung Valley of Tibet. At the age of six he entered the Pelri Osel Tekchenling monastery. Although he first had little interest in monastic pursuits, things changed at the age of thirteen, when Jigme Lingpa began his training in earnest, studying key Nyingma scriptures, treasure cycles and Indian Buddhist classics and received several important transmissions.

At the age of twenty-eight Jigme Lingpa entered a three-year retreat, where he experienced a vision where a wisdom dakini bestowed on him the Longchen Nyingthig treasure cycle. He kept the treasure secret until having a series of visions of Longchenpa in another three-year retreat. When he emerged from retreat he established a hermitage in Chonggye where he ultimately began to transmit the Longchen Nyingthig.

Jigme Lingpa also later oversaw the printing of his edition of the Nyingma Gyubum, a compilation of all Nyingma tantra, in twenty-eight volumes.
