FYI, I was told today that they didn't manage to have the Chakrasamvara sadhana translated in time for this weekend, so they will not be supplying a sadhana to practice with.

The Luipa tradition is the most complex.

Is he giving the Luipa Tradition wang?

I wrote back to the organizers and asked for a Tibetan copy. Nope. They don't even have those to give.

TBRC.....
this is from the Sakya KaBum...

http://tbrc.org/link?RID=O8LS4784|O8LS4 ... EGS1017151" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And this is from Khyentse Wangpo

http://tbrc.org/link?RID=O00AG016|O00AG ... 000$W21807" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not sure which one is more in use.....Malcolm can likely answer that.

Sheesh.

Don't know if it's because I just changed my glasses, but yes, it is from Luipa's tradition according to the site. :oops:

The first is the long sadhana.

The latter is an instruction, not a sadhana.

Indeed. So much for the search parameters at TBRC, when I filtered for "Druptab" or "Sadhana" or whatnot. They also call it a layjang, which is a type of "sadhana" too--"Activity Ritual" I guess you could call it....

There's also a sadhana in the Kangyur, if I recall....

So it turns out we received Chakrasamvara in the Vajramala tradition. My Dharma brother who attended the empowerment with me said that the Vajramala material is next to impossible to find online. Either he is right, I'm not looking hard enough, or both. Does anyone know where one can find more information on this practice in this tradition?

Abhayakaragupta's Vajravali is available at TBRC in Umay and Uchen....the latter is apparently in the Tengyur. This is often grouped with the Mitra Gyatsa, or 100 Empowerments of Mitrayogin.

I was able to find actual sadhana links for Mahamaya, Kurukulle, Buddhakapala, And the PancaRaksha...

http://www.tbrc.org/#library_BannerSear ... "vajravali"" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No links to a sadhana of Chakrasamvara in the Luipa tradition, but perhaps the wang in the Vajravali is authorization to practice any general sadhana of Luipa's Chakrasamvara. That's a question worth asking.

Sorry I should have been more specific... I was hoping on some more information on:

Shenpa Shidel (Parting from the 4 attachment)

Long life initiation

Parting from the Four Attachments is an important Sakyapa teaching that His Holiness gives on occassion (and has published a book about).

As conebeckham speculated in another thread, the long life initation is most likely the Thangtong Gyalpo one as he's given it at a previous stop on his North American tour.

So is the long life initiation a blessing or a practice?
