I will be the point person for this, but I haven't been able to reach the institute yet. It may take a little while. I will post updates here.

Of course, for the empowerment itself, I don't think you need a text, that would be important for practice after. So it can wait. Should be available within a month or so at the latest.

However, I will be doing my best to uphold samaya in any case and will be continuing with other practices. I suppose it would be taking it as a blessing, as is sometimes said.

If you would like to practice you should register. It is very, very cheap.

Here is the Ustream link from Garchen.net.

After posting, it seems like the link is not working well via Dharmawheel. I will leave it here for now, but the best way is probably finding the link on Garchen.net and going from there.

Isn't it supposed to start one hour from now? The stream seems to be already on but not working well.

It's not working well on ustream either. GBI has many problems with internet and if everyone has their cell phones on there, it creates problems.

Apparently it is 8:05 am mountain time so it shouldn't have started yet, unless I am missing something.

There is some chanting going on, but it is impossible to tell what is happening because the video is frozen for about 80% of the time.

Is the stream basically illegible for anyone else?

Yes, it is pointless even trying to watch it unless something changes drastically or if there is an alternative stream.

It seems it is most of the time the same when there is an empowerment or lung happening through stream. At best, part of it is unwatchable.

A pity. Could they maybe switch off the video and stream the audio only?

The last stream I saw was choppy too, now that I think of it. I miscalculated the time as well, I believe the empowerment itself takes place at 4pm eastern time. For some reason I thought it was 12pm eastern. I guess I'll try again for the empowerment, then see what happens.

If the stream continues at this quality, would the empowerment even be considered valid?

I don't think there is any chance it will improve unless there is a way to communicate with the people responsible for the stream.

From my end, it's a weird obstacle filled day. I may do some Achi practice later, wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm going to check back at 4 eastern for the empowerment.

The question about the validity of the empowerment with major technical issues is a good one, I don't know. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I did take Tsewang Dzinpa with some stream issues, and it seemed fine to me, no weird feelings, when I do the practice it seems right. But that's a very personal take on it. And I think it depends somewhat on HOW bad the stream is.
