Meet the 21 Taras

Over the coming weeks, we will be introducing to our community each of the 21 Taras. In getting to know the Taras, and practicing her mantra and visualization, we are able to work with an energetic stream from Tara that resonates with real-life situations.

Tara Mandala’s 21 Tara statues have supported many global practices restoring balance in the world. Last year, our community practiced the 12th Tara, Tashi Dönjé – “the climate change Tara,” to heal the disasters of hurricanes in Texas, Florida and South America, and the wildfires in California. In previous years, practices with the 7th, 8th and 20th Tara were directed toward the war in Syria, positive and sane decisions in government, and the ebola epidemic. The power of community practice and the activation of Tara’s healing energies are a tremendous support for all during times of degeneration.

“Tara is the popular female form of the Buddha: nothing is below her station, she will help in even the most mundane matters … Where the Buddha seems too removed and sublime, the maternal compassion of Tara can be invoked.” ~ Lama Tsultrim Allione, from her book Women Of Wisdom.

In our upcoming “Queen of Great Bliss Dakini & Twenty-One Taras Equinox Retreat” with Drubpön Lama Karma on March 17 – 24, we invoke the primordial wisdom aspects of each of the 21 Taras. For more about this retreat, click here http://bit.ly/2FkqmG4

Below is an example, the first Tara, NYURMA PAMO

Homage To Tara NYURMA PAMO

OM TARE TUTTARE TURE BODHICITTA SVAHA

NYURMA PAMO is semi-wrathful and red in color. She liberates beings from the suffering of samsara and protects them from fear. With her compassionate power, she removes obstacles and increases bodhicitta, awakened heart. Upon her utpala flower is a white conch shell that curls clockwise, symbolizing the glorious sound of relative and absolute bodhicitta pervading the entire world.
