Post by Mr. G »

If you have already indicated an interest in attending, please know that you must send in your deposit as well to hold your place in the retreat.

WHITE TARA RETREAT
with
H.E. Sakya Jetsun Chimey Luding Rinpoche
at
Sakya Kachod Choling
San Juan Island, WA

White Tara practice is specifically designed to lengthen one’s life-span and overcome life-threatening hindrances.

Sakya Kachod Choling is very happy to announce that Jetsun Kushok has, with great kindness, agreed to give a White Tara retreat this summer. This will be a wonderful opportunity for experienced practitioners to deepen their practice and it will give those who would like to start the opportunity to do so. Time with Jetsun Kushok is precious and retreat space is limited! We encourage you to register as early as possible.

Dates: July 23- July 29
Cost: Out of town - nonmembers $434.00 members $391.00 (retreat, food & lodging)
Locals: retreat only - non-members$245.00 members $220.00 Add $5.00 per meal if having meals at gonpa.
Arrival date: July 21st or 22nd
Departure date: July 29h after lunch

PREQUISITES:
The only prerequisite is that you must have already taken refuge in the Tibetan Buddhist form of Buddhism. If you have not but are ready to take this step, it is possible to take refuge at the retreat.
Retreat Commitments and General Information:
1. This will be a silent retreat. Silence starts with the White Tara empowerment. You absolutely will not be able to send or receive e-mails or phone calls. Be sure this is clearly understood by family and friends. All business and personal matters must be taken care of before arriving at the retreat.

Silence within the retreat will follow these guidelines: functional speech
only, i.e. associated with chores and practice questions. Discursive speech,
chatting with friends, telling one’s life stories can be very distracting and
disruptive to one’s ability to not only keep the silence but in maintaining
mental concentration on the deity.

2. Meals: all meals will be strictly vegetarian. People with life threatening
food allergies or health conditions should let that be known and they will
be taken into consideration when planning meals.

3. Lodging: Shrine room or camping out. Once you decide, we ask you not to change as that could be disturbing to other retreaters. We have a few tents and sleeping bags that are available to rent for a small fee.

4. There is a daily practice commitment.
  • How foolish you are,
grasping the letter of the text and ignoring its intention!
