From hundreds of thousands to millions of Tibetan Buddhists, more than 400 Tibetan Buddhist groups, the written Tibetan prayer flags, the painted Buddha Thangka, the exquisite Buddhist instruments, are treasured by many Taiwanese. In Taiwan, Tibetan culture and arts, and religion is no longer far away in the Himalayas, but in everyday life we will be able to get close to and enjoy. To celebrate the Saga Dawa (Buddha’s month), a holy fourth month (April) of the Tibetan calendar, Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Commission for the first time will hold the Tibetan Culture and Art Festival, will bring Taiwan a series of fascinating Tibetan culture feast.

The events of the Tibetan Culture and Art Festival include【Prayer for World Peace and Harmony】,【Tibetan Thangka Art Exhibition】,【Buddhist Chants by Ani Choying Dolma】and【Lecture on Mongolian and Tibetan Cultures】. Among which, the【Prayer for World Peace and Harmony】will be held at the Expo Hall of Taipei Expo Park on May 24, specially arranged the ceremony of eliminating karma of the Vajra Dance (Vajra-nrta/Rdo-rje-gar), and consists of four major sects of Tibetan Buddhism the great Dharma (eminent monks) together chanting and praying for world peace, national prosperity and favorable weather.
In addition, from May 22 to June 2, the Thangka Art Exhibition of Qinghai Regong will be held at the Jade Gallery of National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, featuring more than 30 pieces of precious Thangka works, through the Thangka arts, leading the people a glimpse into the unique forms of the Tibetan culture and art.

Meanwhile, on May 27, the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall will host【Buddhist Chants by Ani Choying Dolma】, specially inviting Ani Choying Dolma, a well-known singer from Nepal to perform in Taiwan. Through a series of Tibetan culture events, passing out of Tibetan Buddhism the life philosophy of peace and quiet, as well as the altruism of the spirit of compassion, is good for comforting the hearts of busy modern people.
