Ringu Tulku Rinpoche is a Tibetan Buddhist Master of the Kagyu Order. He was born in 1952 in Kham in Eastern Tibet. He was recognized as the reincarnation of the Abbot of Rigul Monastery in Tibet. He was trained in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism under many great masters including HH the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa and HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He took his formal education at Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Sikkim and Sampurnananda Sanskrit University, Varanasi, India. He was the first Kagyu lama to obtain the Acharya degree at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Varanasi. The title of Khenpo was awarded him by HH 16th Karmapa. He received the Lopon Chenpo (Ph.D.) title from the International Nyingma Society.

Rinpoche served as Professor of Tibetan Studies and a Tibetan textbook writer in Sikkim for 25 years. Since 1990, he has been traveling and teaching Buddhism and meditation at Universities, Institutes and Buddhist Centers in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and Asia. He also participates in various interfaith and Science and Buddhist dialogues.

He has authored several books, both in Tibetan and European languages, including: "The Ri-ME Philosophy of Jamgon Kongtrul the Great: A Study of the Buddhist Lineages of Tibet" (Shambhala 2007); "Daring Steps Toward Fearlessness: The Three Vehicles of Buddhism" (Snow Lion 2005). He is also the author of the "Lazy Lama" series of books on various Buddhist subjects known for their straightforward and accessible style, as well as a series of children's books. His most recent publication is a compilation of teachings entitled: "From Milk to Yoghurt: A Recipe for Living and Dying" (2009).
