Admin comings and goings

Post by Queequeg » Fri Jun 21, 2019 7:26 pm

You may have noticed that Admin_PC aka PorkChop stepped down as site administrator.

We are all grateful for his service to the community for the last few years. Change is constant, and he felt it was time to move on. Big round of applause.

We are pleased to announce, before he changes his mind, that Grigoris has volunteered for the thankless job.

Thank you, Greg, for taking on the responsibilities! You'll make a wonderful pinata!

:anjali:
Those who, even with distracted minds,
Entered a stupa compound
And chanted but once, “Namo Buddhaya!”
Have certainly attained the path of the buddhas.

-Lotus Sutra, Expedient Means Chapter

There are beings with little dust in their eyes who are falling away because they do not hear the Dhamma. There will be those who will understand the Dhamma.

Thanks to PC for his great work all these years.

It will take a little time to familiarise myself with the tools, so if the board crashes completely and all the posts vanish into the darkest recesses of the web, you will at least know why it happened... :?

The name "Admin Greg" reminds me of Starship Enterprise  ... maybe because it has the same sound-rhythm as "Captain Kirk".

Anyhow, CONGRATS for taking responsibility and BEST WISHES.

How did you get to be Admin, Greg? I have seen few who more aggressive and disrespectful to others than you.

How did I get to be admin? Let me see...

Involvement in online Sanghas since 2007?

Three stints as moderator during my nine year membership here?

Close to 20,000 posts (some of which are actually useful and generally on-topic)?

A keen interest in Dharma theory and practice?

My stunning good looks?

My aggression and disrespectfulness are possibly my two best qualities. :rolling:

If you look back at Greg's posts over time I think you can see he has mellowed. Proving that things don't stay the same. In addition, he has as a no-nonsense approach when needed. A very good quality in moderating internet fora I would have thought. I also suspect Ayu is right about the seemingingly rough exterior and the heart of gold.
