I have a question reg. the split into peaceful and wrathful deities.
What sense does it make during development stage and where does it come from (Bon etc.) ?
One explanation could be:
What scares us is wrathful, what we find pleasant is peaceful.
Attachment versus aversion ?
I am a practitioner of Kunzang Tuktig, Chokgyur Lingpa Terma, since several years.
My post in the Tibetan Buddhism Forum was meant for starting a discussion about what people think or know about the separation into peaceful-wrathful and where it might come from.
I could very well imagine that Bon practices went in that way and were taken over into Nyingma-liturgy.
To work with deities (union of emptiness+appearance) one does not need a split into peaceful-wrathful per se.
This is what I thought......
Of course one could say:
Just practice it, do not think about it
I am practicing, ...thinking comes between sessions.

Peaceful, Wrathful Deities
As Tantra often involves vows and samaya related to secret practice, this sub-forum has been created where Vajrayana practitioners can pose questions, and any of our members or staff can reply confidentially by PM.
