Simons Law. Pt1.

Post by Simon E. »

Simons 1st Law of Internet Interactions states that:

"Any discussions on Buddhist Forums that go beyond four pages are themselves examples of Samsara in action and are characterised by endless repetition, grasping at identity, aversion/attraction, and negative rumination"
“You don’t know it. You just know about it. That is not the same thing.”

I this like an offshoot of "Simon says"?
"My religion is not deceiving myself."
Jetsun Milarepa 1052-1135 CE

"Butchers, prostitutes, those guilty of the five most heinous crimes, outcasts, the underprivileged: all are utterly the substance of existence and nothing other than total bliss."

That's a different Simon, Greg.

'The Wire' is yet another Simon. And 'Mrs Robinson' yet another.

Pt. 2, I assume, adds that their connection to the stated topic becomes ever more tenuous?

Any discussion where one speaks of oneself in the third person is assuredly an example of Samsara in action.

How does Simon view Longchenpa's "The Basic Treasure of Space" (for one) in terms of this "Simon's Law"?

Simon doesn't.

And talking of oneself in the first, second, OR third person only occurs in Samsara.

No thanks. I'll just wait for Simon's "mansplaining" of everything Dharma related and see what ensues.

I have no special knowledge of these matters. And no attainments. If I sound like I am claiming anything different Its probably just the way that I was socialised.
I am a work in progress.

Be well.. :namaste:
