Kuan-yin by Chun-fang-yu

Columbia U. Press published this in 2001, but it is new to me. The authoress gives an in-depth account of the "Chinese Transformation of Avalokitesvara" as the sub-title says. Many miracle tales from canonical & native sutras are give. Much coverage is give to the male to female change in the iconography of Avalokita. Not finished it yet, but Ms Chun writes a worthy study.
It is not a matter of achieving Bodhi or attaining Buddhahood. Rather, you yourself become aware that your own mind has always been fully enlightened.

Hard to see, but this statue has three heads; anyone know the meaning of this particular form of Kuan Yin?
