I hope none of the eminent Buddhist leadership here stands up and makes a huge fuss over this.

Wonderful. Though it is a little sad that their parents did not attend, despite privately accepting their relationship (according to how the brides put it). It is not that surprising, since their parents generation are still quite bounded by traditional mores.
