But I do live in a cave. Sure it's made of concrete, and it's one of sixty that are stacked up twelve high, and it has electricity, cable, internet, phone, and hot and cold water, but... it's still a cave.

No, but I once told my Sunday school teacher that I thought I was a lizard in my last life. He told me that I shouldn't believe in re-incarnation.

Only by my mind.

How free is your mind ?
Abandoning Dharma is, in the final analysis, disparaging the Hinayana because of the Mahayana; favoring the Hinayana on account of the Mahayana; playing off sutra against tantra; playing off the four classes of the tantras against each other; favoring one of the Tibetan schools—the Sakya, Gelug, Kagyu, or Nyingma—and disparaging the rest; and so on. In other words, we abandon Dharma any time we favor our own tenets and disparage the rest.
