BORN TO SERVE the Enthronement of Tulku Urgyen Yangsi

Post by Paul »

Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche was one of the most remarkable teachers and an authority within the Tibetan tradition. While most monasteries kept their doors closed to westerners in the ‘60s, he hospitably opened his doors to them in Kathmandu. Many a fortune seeker met with an unusual and not always equally pleasant surprise. He taught his students to look Tulku Urgyen Rinpochedeep into themselves and face their own suffering, frustrations, fears and anger and transform them. He was also one of the very few teachers who offered westerners the opportunity of initiation into the secret Mahamudra-Dzogchen tradition, which was highly unusual in those days. His fame and unconventional approach spread rapidly.

The film tells the story of this unique teacher during the initiation of his reincarnation in November 2008. An event that prominent Buddhist teachers and students from around the world witnessed for five days (including singer and movie star Cher). CherIt became evident how influential his life had been and how many lives he had touched, including that of his sons all teachers in their own right who give a candid account of their own path. The parents of the Yangsi, the 7 years old incarnation, share their view on accepting their sons future. A number of his close western students talk about his inspiring presence and profound teachings

This is subtitled in Dutch, with the vast majority being spoken in English. Very, very interesting indeed. Includes interviews with Rinpoche's sons.

Great, isn't it? Personally, I love the 'Blazing Splendor' group of teachers.

Now on YouTube with what appears to be a cleaned up video.

The other Youtube link seems to have died but it looks like Eva van Dam ( :woohoo: ) has put the film here.

He wasn't in the film (maybe in the background during the enthronement?).
