นรชาติวางวาย
มลายสิ้นทั้งอินทรีย์
สถิตทั่วแต่ชั่วดี
ประดับไว้ในโลกา
When humans die,
All their physical bodies perish;
Only their goodness and badness remain
As grace and disgrace to decorate the world

Such a poetic song, from the famed Hong Kong Chinese movie, The Swordsman II, translation as below...another translation here

A laugh on the blue sea
The blue sea laughs
Crashing on both coasts
Carried in the waves
We only have now

The heavens laugh
At the troubled world
Only they know
Who is to win and lose

The mountains laugh
The rain is afar
When the waves grow old,
The world still goes on

The clear winds laugh
Such a feeling of solitude
Bygone fellowships leaving
Behind a tinge of melancholy

Sawaddee Ka..Plwk,

In Thailand, this kind of movie is called " gum-lung-pai-nai = inner mental power"..very violent..bloody movies.. but Hong-Kong movie people are so great with special effects that Hollywood hire them to supervise American movies people.

Your Video clip is not so violent...and the poem is so beautiful

I think the girl is so cute!

Sawaddee Ka

@ My websites: Sariputtadhamma/Journey To Nibbana..I have 2 kalayanamittas who are so good with Pali..after joining these 2 websites for almost 2 years..I've learned to love Pali-words... I can even write poems with Pali based on what my friend "Htoo" posted....

Nokyoong Tree...Thailand
Image

Pali/English Dhamma Poem

Dear Aavuso,
only within this kayaa,
with perception....... and citta
You'll understand loka..... loka-samudaya
loka-nirodha....loka-nirodha-gaaminii-pa.tipadaa

In this body,
there are eye-sense-base,
ear-sense-base........nose-sense-base
tongue-sense-base..body-sense-base..mind-sense-base.

Outside object
hit these 6 sense-bases:
form-sense-base..sound-sense-base
smell-sense-base.......taste-sense-base
touch-sense-base. ..and object-sense-base.

These 6 sense-bases
will come and hit ajjhatika-aayatanas
When these 12 sense-bases.. are realized
loka is realized.......Loka-samudaya is realized
Loka-nirodha or cessation is understood and realized
And then loka-nirodha-gaaminii-pa.tipadaa.... is realized

********
My daughter's nickname is Nokyoong...named after the Nokyoong-Tree Image

Buddha's Poem #8/#9#10 [By Yawares Sastri]
[Based on Dhammapada and Buddha's Verses, translated from the Pali by Daw Mya Tin]

One who learns
To guard his senses
Not overwhelmed by sensual pleasure
Moderate in food..with strong will-power
Full of faith in the Dhamma with sati and viriya
That person will be free from Mara..free from Samsara

Whoever
wears monk's robe
But not try to be free from kilesas
No control over senses..not speak the truth
He's definitely not worthy to wear the yellow robe

Whoever
tries to get rid
of kilesas, tanha, raga
Whoever observes perfect moral precepts
Who has strong will-power and speaks the truth
That person is truly indeed.. worthy of the yellow robe

In progressing nowhere
In achieving nothing
There is breath...

I must confess that your poem is too short for me to understand
Could you please tell me why 'progressing nowhere'..'achieving nothing'?
Please tell me why 'there is breath'??
Oh, Yan Kong..I think your poem is very interesting!

Yesterday I went to buy motor oil at WalMart, a very tall black man approached me and asked if I was the lady who live at Bolero street..I said yes..then he said that he's a garbage truck driver who always waved at me and I waved back..I didn't know what to say..but I said 'nice to meet you' then he said 'see you tomorrow'..I smiled..Monday is garbage pick-up day for my neighborhood.

Buddha's Poem #11/#12/#13/14 [By Yawares Sastri]
[Based on Dhammapada and Buddha's Verses, translated from the Pali by Daw Mya Tin]

One who seeks
only material values
will never see spiritual progress
because he holds wrong views..wrong idea
his obsession with material gain.. causes his mind unclear

Wise men who hold the right views
Also know the truth for truth
They can tell right or wrong..evil or good
They know the path that lead to the noble truth

Rain-drops keep falling through the leaky-roof
Of a house with bad construction
Just like passion penetrates the heart
Of a person without 'vijja'.. as protection

Wise man who learns the noble truth
Will not let passion piercing his heart
Just like a house with strong roof
Keep rain from seeping in..waterproof!

Buddha's Poem #15/#16/#17 [By Yawares Sastri]
[Based on Dhammapada/Buddha's Verses by Daw Mya Tin,M.A.]

Evil-doer commits bad kammas without regret
Will suffer in this world and next life
He will see the vipaka-kammas of his deeds
He will pay for his sin..this life and next life

Good person with meritorious deeds
Will enjoy living nice..happy life
In this world and next world
He is blessed with Buddha-light in his life

Here in this world, evil-doer suffers
His bad deeds torture him days and nights
When he dies, bad-kammas lead him to hell
Suffering from hell-punishment is no delight!!

Buddha's Poem #18/#19/#20 [By Yawares Sastri]
[Based on Dhammapada/Buddha's Verses by Daw Mya Tin,M.A.]

In this world, wise men live virtuous-life with good deeds
Will enjoy happiness..peaceful life
After death, good deeds lead them to heaven
Be with beautiful angels..enjoy celestial life

Monks who chant and learn the Buddha's Dhamma by heart
But never practice according to the Dhamma
Like cowherds count the cattle of the others
Those monks have no benefits of Buddha's Dhamma forever!

Bhikkhus who chant and learn Tipitaka..not much
But practice according to the Buddha's Dhamma
Clearly comprehending the Dhamma, abandoning moral defilements
They become ariya-bhikkhus with Magga-phala

I woke up at 2:12 AM and meditated with 'Buddho' in my mind until 4:23 AM, which was the longest meditation I ever did.
This lovely Uposatha Day, I don't know why I miss my mom so much. Dearest mom, where-ever you are now, please read all my Buddha's poems, I wrote and will write them all for you!

Buddha's Poem #21/#22/#23 [By Yawares Sastri]
[Based on Dhammapada/Buddha's Verses by Daw Mya Tin,M.A.]

The path to Amata is difficult
Mindfulness is the path to Magga-Phala
Lobha, Dosa, Moha will lead you to Niraya
The Noble Truth will lead you out of.. Samsara

Wise-men who are mindful
Will soon realize Magga-Phala
No longer subject to rebirth
Find delight in the realms of Ariyas

Those who
cultivate 'Tranguillity'
Practice 'Insight Development'
Will be free from the bonds of yoga
Which bind people to the rebirth..'Samsara'

Om Mani Padme Hum
The flowers that sprout
From the cracks in the cement
Cracks half a world deep

Whispering cedars
That loom overhead tonight
Robins leap about

Rabbits dart across
Precisely cropped grasses
Through which ants will creep

The Sun that’s shining
Through the branches and the leaves
Warms sleeping eyelids

The whirling wind sweeps
Up dust most everywhere
After farmers sweep

The mountains that sit
Observant bodhisattvas
Deep meditation

The purest jewel
In the most vibrant lotus
Primavera breath

Each stanza is a haiku.

Sawaddee Ka
Dear Baileyed123
I so love your 'haiku'
I can see flowers..cedars
Robins, rabbits, grasses...ants
The sun is shining through the branches
I can feel the touch of.... the whirling wind
I pay homage to the Bodhisattvas sitting on the mountain
The purest jewel in the beautiful lotus...oh, I think I am in heaven!
