Jodo Shu in Japan's having a huge 24 hour nembutsu marathon this weekend. As I'm writing this it started about 30 min ago.
A copy of the announcement is here:

24 hour Nembutsu Marathon from Jodo Shu Japan
Re: 24 hour Nembutsu Marathon from Jodo Shu Japan
Other than the initial baby milk powder ad, the familiar dok dok dok dok dok was reassuring
I dunno why they have so many doing the mokugyo as the knocking din would drown their chanting which is why the Chinese Trad only have one person doing it and have a standby replacement in long sessions such as this...

Re: 24 hour Nembutsu Marathon from Jodo Shu Japan
An hour after u (plwk) posted and I only see the one monk (kid?) doing the motak/mokugyo and only hear the one guy chanting.
Was planning to take part early Saturday morning and Saturday evening.
Still impressed by the dedication.
plwk - I think the school hosting this (Japanese Jodo Shu) is still very consistent with Chinese Pure Land.
Hopefully, we can mobilize and get them some support.
EDIT: Please post in the comment field and let them know you're watching!
