Was wondering if anyone here had a chance to look over this monograph. A little unsure given that the author resorts to a discussion of "self," although i'm not sure if he means that in terms of how the first translators of Buddhism in China were scraping around for some sort of terminology to represent the Dharma...

I don't know the book (sorry) but vaguely remembered seeing the title on DW before and have just found the thread - http://www.dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=10842

As I recall his obituary was also posted to DW, but strangely I can't find it anywhere. I think his death was covered by the Telegraph or the Daily Mirror, but I've Google searched a number of different ways now and I can't find it.

Thanks. Such a tragedy. I don't know much about academia, but it seems like his work was generally well-received and he would have been successful if he had just held on a little longer. But I suppose we never no for sure what is in a person's heart and mind in situations like that.
