For those of you that don't know of him, Buckley was a musician in the 1990's who was very spiritually aware. His song Grace includes the lines "wait in the fire" and "I'm not afraid to [die] but [life] goes so slow." Before he could finish his second album, he drowned in an offshoot of the Mississippi river, perhaps intentionally. I think he ascended this realm, as the water represents the quelling of the flames of life and of samsara. Just thought I'd share.
Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without. - The Buddha
Of course!. His version of Dido's Lament is one of my favourite pieces of music.
“Trump’s grand and vulgar self-absorption is inviting all of us to examine our own selfishness. His ignorance calls us to attend to our own blind spots. The fears that he stokes and the isolation he promotes goad us to be braver, more generous.” - James S. Gordon.
It also represents being carried away uncontrollably by the waves of samsara and death, and is often depicted as such explicitly in Buddhist murals... But who am I to say, for all I know you're right. And regardless, his version of Hallelujah gets me every time, especially knowing that backstory. So sad.
