Gutor and Losar at Yeshe Nying Po, New York City

Dear Sangha brothers & sisters,

We are now heading into the final stretch of the tumultuous Tiger Year. In order to give everyone ample time to prepare for the upcoming reversing practices and Tibetan New Year, we are pleased to inform you of the schedule for the new year. This year all the events will take place at Yeshe Nying Po in New York City.

The reversing practices will be from Tuesday, March 1st to Thursday, March 3rd, 2011, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and continuing from 1:30 to 5:30 pm. We strongly urge everyone to participate, whether with an offering, for a session, or for all three days, in these reversing practices so as to avert the negativity of the coming year. In addition to monetary offerings, it is traditional to send a strand of hair or a few nail clippings or a very small piece from one's clothing as a karmic link to the reversing torma that will be sent out. A list of names of immediate family members only (please keep it short) may be emailed to [email protected], No photos please. Plan to send all of these items well before March. They must be added to the reversing torma before the beginning of the practice on March 1st. Anything received after this date will unfortunately NOT be able to be included.

On Thursday, March 3rd, the day will conclude with the prediction-giving astrological soup.

On Friday, March 4th, the house cleaning day, people will be needed at the center to do the customary cleaning before Losar. So if you can reserve some time to help out on that day, it would be greatly appreciated.

The Iron Rabbit Year 2138 begins on Saturday, March 5th. Losar will be celebrated at Yeshe Nying Po in New York City, beginning with a long life empowerment that Rinpoche will offer at approximately 9:30-10:30 on the morning of March 5th. Following that, perhaps as early as 11:00, the sangha will have the opportunity to offer katas to the family and to the thrones of H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche and H.H. Dalai Lama. Ven. Sangyum Rinpoche may also be receiving katas, but this is not certain.

On Monday, March 7th, the Tibetan 3rd, at 10:00 in the morning everyone is invited to Yeshe Nying Po to participate in the Riwo Sang Cho practice. Rinpoche will also bless prayer flags at this time, which may be left at the center to be raised later at Orgyen Cho Dzong. Rinpoche strongly encourages people involved in business to raise prayer flags on the Tibetan 3rd so as to increase their chances of success and prosperity.

Then Rinpoche will teach from Monday, March 7th to Sunday, March 13th. Details, including the topic, will be announced shortly.

If you require sleeping accommodations, arrangements will be made on a first come first serve basis. Accommodations may also be available at several local establishments near the center.
