Each love is unique
Not a sliding scale from not-love to love;
it's love.
Each love is unique
Re: Each love is unique
Good question!
If each love is not unique, then we might conclude that love must be entirely formless and empty; but we know from experience that life and love cannot express itself without form... so love must be form as much as it is emptiness, and so love must be as unique as it is universal.
Love loves form as well as emptiness!
What do you think? Does this make any sense at all?

Re: Each love is unique
There is a very topic-fitting German poem by Erich Fried: "It Is What It Is, says love"
Here are many translations but none in English
http://www.erichfried.de/Was%20es%20ist.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
What it is
It is nonsense, says Reason.
It is what it is, says Love.
It is harm, says Computation.
It is nothing but pain, says Fear.
It is desperate, says Insight.
It is what it is, says Love.
It is ridiculous, says Pride.
It is reckless, says Wariness.
It is impossible, says Experience.
It is what it is, says Love.

The first bit, well, I thought "wow !.. "Rainboyo wrote:Good question!

Then the second bit, well, I thought "hmmm that's a bit of a mouthful".
How about... Love's compassion for ignorance is infinite.

Not that much. Sort of a mind saladRainboyo wrote:Good question!

but no doubt I can grow to love the senseless ... how about you ...
Does Love have to be blind? Always?
Maybe Love is an answer without question ...

'Your first love has no beginning or end. Your first love is not your first love, and it is not your last. It is just love. It is one with everything.'
from here: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Nhat_Hanh
many other beautiful expressions of life there as well including
'If in our daily life we can smile, if we can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit from it. If we really know how to live, what better way to start the day than with a smile? Our smile affirms our awareness and determination to live in peace and joy. The source of a true smile is an awakened mind.'
'To think in terms of either pessimism or optimism oversimplifies the truth. The problem is to see reality as it is. A pessimistic attitude can never create the calm and serene smile which blossoms on the lips of Bodhisattvas and all those who obtain the way.'
'Freedom from suffering is a great happiness.'

Re: Each love is unique
If Love is unique and formless, then if 'tight' enough does it go all the way into negative and convoluted, even unskilfull forms? So we might in tantric formulations recognise the wrathful deities as personifications of ... wait for it ... Love
So in a sense it is all Love (and according to Beatles Dharma - all you need)

'Little mind, Big mind' is an interesting concept;
'Little heart, Big heart' would be a nice corollary;
Contraction and expansion of the heart is interesting as well.
I believed the Little mind / Big mind concept was associated with Lama Zopa Rinpoche;
at least I am fairly certain it was he who wrote 'Mind like an ocean' a nice read,
i did a search and saw this:
https://biglovelamayeshe.wordpress.com/ ... -rinpoche/
pretty sweet.
it was Lama Yeshe; who did 'Make your mind an ocean'
I feel I sometimes get those two confused
found:
“To enter the spiritual path, you must begin to understand your
own mental attitude and how your mind perceives things. If
you’re all caught up in attachment to tiny atoms, your limited,
craving mind will make it impossible for you to enjoy life’s
pleasures. External energy is so incredibly limited that if you
allow yourself to be bound by it, your mind itself will become
just as limited. When your mind is narrow, small things easily
agitate you.
Make your mind an ocean.”
