Karmapa OTR free to visit Sikkim

Post by Lingpupa »

It appears that the Indian Cabinet Comitte on Security has given the go-ahead for HHK to visit any part of Sikkim except Rumtek monastery. End April/early May are the expected dates.

And then there are these:

and

I must say, there doesn't seem to be anything new in these though.

Well this has been a long time coming but so glad to see it.

There has been a lot of uninformed speculation on the internet that Karmapa's prolonged stay in the US could be a sign he was persona non grata in India. Cleary this is not true with this decision.

Hopefully too it is a sign that the "Chinese spy" nonsense that restricted his movements for so long is now at an end.

Apart from Gangtok and Ralung, I wonder where he will visit?

I would imagine so, and Pemayangtse as well. There are a number of retreat centers in Sikkim, as well, and I would imagine they would welcome a visit!

Is it hilarious or just sad?

Oh wow, I didn't know this guy was still going.

Interesting article. Dawa Sangpo declared himself 17th Karmapa as a toddler. The 16th Karmapa not being actually dead at that point did not seem to be an obstacle for him. I also didn't know that his candidature was backed by the 3rd Jamgon Kongtrul. Funny too that Jamgon Kongtrul seems not to have mentioned this to anybody else. The latter being dead is rather inconvenient from a corroboration point of of view.

Never heard of the Sikkim Karmapa Committee but suspect it is probably him and his Mom.

Don't foresee this being a credible threat to Orgyen Trinley's Sikkim visit.

Has anyone heard anything about HH Karmapa accepting the invitation to visit Sikkim. So far he is making plans to teach in USA and Canada this summer so I am wondering when this visit would take place.

Both, IMO.

Yes, mostly sad, but I can't stop chuckling :jumping:

I personally would want nothing to with being Karmapa or any other high Lama, how much would be expected of you! It's just hard for me to get inside the mind of someone like that... I would be so embarassed
