Well, I wanted to go for zen at first tbh. It had more magic and vajrayana was confusing at the beginning. However, there was no zen center near me only two small vajrayana groups and so I studied it more and it actually clicked with me and I received teachings from vajrayana tradition. I think it is good to study a bit at first and find a line of thinking and teachings that actually make sense and then go with it.

For those who do virtuous actions,
goodness is what comes to pass.
For those who do non-virtuous actions,
that becomes suffering indeed.

Aesthetics initially.
Meditate upon Bodhicitta when afflicted by disease

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when sad

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when suffering occurs

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when you are scared

Thogal and Tummo attracted me, but I think Phowa made me stay.

It is the only path that ever made sense to me, love at first sight.

I met a lama that had what I was interested in.
1.The problem isn’t ‘ignorance’. The problem is the mind you have right now. (H.H. Karmapa XVII @NYC 2/4/18)
2. I support Mingyur R and HHDL in their positions against lama abuse.
3. Student: Lama, I thought I might die but then I realized that the 3 Jewels would protect me.
Lama: Even If you had died the 3 Jewels would still have protected you. (DW post by Fortyeightvows)

Someone hit me over the head with a vase then told me I’d go to hell if I didn’t follow his instructions

Serious answer: I came across the vajrayana due to the kindness of the guru, and remain practising it due to the kindness of the guru

When I first became interested in Buddhism, vajrayana looked the least attractive to me compared to the other forms. Nevertheless, I ended up with vajrayana. I did not "choose" vajrayana. I ended up in vajrayana by virtue of circumstances. Now, I can't imagine myself being elsewhere.

I practised Theravada, then went to Pure Land so Mahayana.

Then I got into Esotericism as a matter of research was drawn to Dudjom Lingpa and some Esoteric Nyingma practices and there was literally no place left to go.

I found once I got into Esotericism I couldn't go back Exotericism in the same way.

The path had to stay Dharmic also.
