Really through your teacher. Then sutras and formal texts and commentaries that are found in most traditions. Biographies are often a good start as well.

If you practice in the Tibetan Buddhist traditions then there is now an amazing array of resources. Within TB Jamgon Kongtrul's "Treasury of Knowledge" was intended by the 1st Jamgon Kongtrul and by one of his unacknowledged tulkus to be unexcelled for basic dharma study for serious practitioners.

What books have you read already? What school of Buddhism do you follow?

If you ‘get’ it, then why would you need anything more than this^.

If you need more ‘intellectual’ clarification, then go with Longchen Rabjam’s Treasury of Philosophical Systems, Jigme Lingpa’s Treasury of Precious Qualities, or Jamgon Kongtrul’s Treasuries.

If you’re authorized to study it, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s The Precious Vase.

And Mipham’s Gateway series.

Also any number of Yungdrung Bönpo texts.

Book by Namkhai Norbu.

I follow the Dharmawheel school of Intellectual discussion on Buddhism. (Some Science and Philosophy.)

Although it's intellectual Buddhism, I need to get to the Roots of Dzogchen and Mayahana through Academics. (Sometimes Zen) . . .
