GARUDA AND CONSORT?

Post by Mantrik » Mon Nov 18, 2019 8:45 pm

I have a statue which looks like Garuda with Consort but was later advised that it was probably Raven-Headed Mahakala. As far as I know, Garuda has two consorts in his Hindu form, none in Vajrayana. I'm not sure about Bon Khyung.

Here is another one, which purports to be Tibetan and Garuda with a consort Sukeet. Is it? Does Khyung or Garuda have a a consort and if so, which terma is it from please?

(Note - this one is for sale but not being shown to promote it. )

Please don't sell rupas. This one has undoubtedly been consecrated at some time.

I don't. I said it was for sale, not that I was selling it. ;)

I saw it and was simply curious whether it is Garuda or perhaps Raven-headed Mahakala.

Does it have horns? Is there a sun/moon and a vajra somewhere on the head? Those features would suggest Garuda.

Seems very unlikely that it would be a form of Mahakala with consort. But I’ve never seen this figure before, curious to know what lineage it comes from

Me too. :)
Mahakala in raven-headed form, seems to be a Dharmapala or retinue figure.
My statue, below, is much less 'Tibetan' but is also in Yab Yum.
