The Troma Nagmo Drubcho that we are going to practice during this retreat week was composed by His Holiness Düdjom Rinpoche and consists in an intensive recitation of a text including numerous specific visualisations (meditations) and their respective mantras. The retreat’s participants (advanced or beginner practitioners) will be guided through this complex practice by Namkha Rinpoche and his assistant Lama Sonam Tashi.

The meditation of the female deity Troma Nagmo, also known as Tchöd, comes from a very old tradition, linked to Machik Labdrön, one of the most realized women in Tibet history, who lived during the 12th century. This meditation has been practiced for hundred years in Tibet and was adapted again during the last century by His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche in order to better respond to our needs. Today we have the honour to practice this precious ritual in the presence of Namkha Rinpoche, one of the major holders of the tradition and lineage of Dudjom Rinpoche, who received the direct transmission of this practice by Semo Dechen Yudrön, Dudjom Rinpoche’s own daughter.

The Troma Nagmo Drubcho teaches us to cut through our self attachment and to its related emotions. The practioners learn to stop being scared by their negative emotions. They begin to recognise their emotions, they do not follow them anymore and they are able to transform them. They gradually free their mind of all fear and can have ultimately the opportunity to realise the real nature of their own mind.
